Restaurants & bars / APPLICATION GUIDE

A softer setting for conversation.

Dining rooms and bars often combine glass, hard floors and lively conversation. Suitable curtains can introduce absorptive surface area and give the room a flexible visual character across different services.

THE ROOM & THE REQUIREMENT

Conversation reflections & atmosphere.

The acoustic character changes with occupancy, music level and furniture. Curtains can contribute to reducing reflected sound, but the useful treatment area and frequency response should be considered alongside the rest of the interior.

01

Treat reflective perimeter areas

Use curtains at selected glazed or hard wall surfaces as part of the room treatment.

02

Adjust the visual atmosphere

Change the visible room boundary between daytime and evening service.

03

Screen a private dining area

Create a visual division that can be drawn back for larger bookings.

PLACEMENT & SPECIFICATION

Make the detail
fit the room.

Prioritise useful wall and glazing positions while keeping service routes, doors and the proposed stack zones clear.

Performance boundaryA curtain divider does not guarantee speech privacy between tables or remove direct sound from music and nearby conversations.

What to establish

Busy-service conditions
Assess the room when it is representative of normal occupancy and music use.
Maintenance
Confirm the cleaning method, exposure to spills or food, and the fabric’s care limitations.
Operation and placement
Review circulation, heat sources and daily handling with the venue team.

Confirm the selected material’s certificates, care requirements and the final track and fixing design for your installation.

YOUR PROJECT BRIEF

Bring the room
into the conversation.

Seating layout, busy-service photographs, glazing dimensions, music use and the cleaning regime.

Discuss your project ↗
Can you promise a quieter dining room from the fabric rating?

A room result depends on treatment area, mounting, occupancy and the other finishes. Set a room-specific target and assess the installed result rather than converting the fabric rating into a promised decibel reduction.
