01 / ROOM ACOUSTICS ESTIMATOR

What could treatment
change in your room?

A single-frequency Sabine estimate, based on an existing reverberation time and a change in surface absorption. Defaults are an illustrative scenario, not measured product data.

Enter measured RT60 and absorption coefficients for the same frequency band. In manual mode, changing the band only relabels the analysis. The verified preset updates the treated coefficient; supply matching room RT60 and existing surface values yourself. Do not substitute a single-number SAC, αw or NRC rating for a band coefficient.

Estimated after treatment—

Idealised 60 dB energy-decay slopes, calculated from the entered and estimated RT60 values. Not a measured impulse response or a sound-insulation prediction.

02 / OPEN METHODOLOGY

No hidden assumptions.

The calculators support early specification. Site conditions, final quantities and performance require project-specific review.

01

Reverberation

A₀ = 0.161 × V / T₀
ΔA = S × (α₁ − α₀)
T₁ = 0.161 × V / (A₀ + ΔA)

V is room volume in m³. S is projected treated area in m². The assembly coefficient must match its mounting and fullness. Do not multiply tested projected area by fullness again.

Assumes an approximately diffuse sound field, unchanged room use and a positive equivalent absorption area. It excludes low-frequency modal behaviour, flanking paths and sound insulation.

02

Fabric quantities

Flat width = coverage × (1 + fullness / 100)
Cut drop = drop + vertical allowance
Length = whole widths × cut drop

Each panel receives two side-hem allowances. Joins reduce the usable width. The estimator rounds up to whole vertical widths for each panel, then adds your ordering allowance.

No pattern matching, fabric shrinkage, railroading, track curves or roll-length optimisation is included. Confirm cutting plans before ordering.

03

Curtain mass

Cloth area = widths × roll width × cut drop
Mass (kg) = area × gsm / 1,000

Calculated from the cut cloth, including making allowances, before waste is added. It is not an installed load certification.

Add lining, heading, attachments and dynamic operating forces when designing a track or fixing system. Get a project-specific structural assessment where required.

Read the construction.

EXISTING WALL02 · WALL CAVITY01 · PLEATED FABRIC / PLAN VIEW03 · CARRIERS ALONG THE TRACK ABOVE
What does 100% fullness mean?

Two metres of flat fabric for every metre of covered track, before making allowances. The folds change the installation and the material requirement.

What do the fire classifications mean?

Use the exact manufacturer certificate for the selected fabric and intended use. FR durability labels and named standards alone do not establish compliance for a complete installation. Check certificate scope, colour, care instructions and project requirements.

Can these figures predict noise in the next room?

No. Absorption measurements describe sound behaviour in the room. Sound transmission between spaces needs a different test and a review of the complete separating construction.
