Manage light at installations
Use suitable light-control drapery around projection areas and relevant window openings.
Museums & galleries / APPLICATION GUIDE
Museums, galleries and temporary exhibitions use curtains to shape visitor routes, screen installations and manage light around moving-image work. Acoustic treatment may also help selected audiovisual areas when planned with the exhibition design.
Illustrative placement study. Curtain coverage, cavity and access are designed for your actual room.
THE ROOM & THE REQUIREMENT
A visually enclosed installation can still spill sound into neighbouring exhibits. Light-sensitive objects and projection spaces also have different requirements, so the curator’s and technical team’s briefs should drive the curtain selection.
Use suitable light-control drapery around projection areas and relevant window openings.
Reconfigure screening and entry sequences between exhibitions.
Assess absorptive curtains where reflective surfaces affect an audiovisual installation.
PLACEMENT & SPECIFICATION
Coordinate curtain entries, stack positions and treatment surfaces with the visitor route, display cases and the audiovisual system.
Performance boundaryA blackout fabric specification is not a conservation approval, and an absorptive curtain does not guarantee sound containment between exhibits.
Review the test evidence ↗Confirm the selected material’s certificates, care requirements and the final track and fixing design for your installation.

Premier Blackout 3.0mFor comparing light control around moving-image installations.
Acoustic MoltonA masking and absorption option for suitable audiovisual zones.
Premium Molton 3.0For visual screening where complete blackout is not established by the fabric.

YOUR PROJECT BRIEF
Exhibition layouts, visitor routes, audiovisual positions, required light levels and material requirements from the project team.
Discuss your project ↗It depends on the route, overlaps, light sources and sound paths. Review the full entrance arrangement; a gap-free visual view is not proof of acoustic isolation.

KEEP EXPLORING
Culture & community
Home cinemas, preview rooms and small screening venues need control over ambient light and reflected sound. Curtains can treat windows and selected wall areas while allowing the room to return to everyday use.
Culture & community
Theatres and black-box spaces use drapery to define what an audience sees and to adapt the room to different performances. Masking, acoustic treatment and light control should each have a clear role in the specification.
Culture & community
Community halls host meetings, parties, classes, performances and screenings. Retractable curtain systems can provide different combinations of visual masking, light control and exposed absorption for these uses.
